I thought about for a while what to post about and I wasn't really sure. I'm still not really; but I decided to do a post, similar to what I post about on He>I. I've recently started going to this new bible study with some of the girls my age at my church, and it is about being Obsessed. I would never have really considered myself 'obsessed' with anything, but I have realized I'm a little too attached and spend a little too much time on things that have zero importance. The book is about getting your obsession off of the things of the world and back on God. Here is a few things from the book I found really interesting-
Its true, Your obsession determines your destiny.
"Find your obsession, and you find your future. But when we obsess over things that bring us glory rather than God, the ultimate outcome is disastrous- if not in this life, then in the next.
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
Do you see it? Do you see the obsession in that statement? Its all your heart, soul, strength, and mind. Think about that; what does it really mean to have all of your heart, soul, strength and mind focused on God? The truth is, we were made to obsess over God. To think of Him all day, from when we wake up to when we fall asleep. If you're obsessed with God, you're always wondering what He is thinking. You want to talk to Him and talk about Him. You're continually thanking Him and worshiping Him. You were made to be obsessed with God!
"None of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything." -Luke 14:33
--
'No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other." -Matthew 6:24
If someone or something is your master, what are you? A slave. How much time does a slave give to his or her master? 100%. God wants 100% of you- every bit of you. So giving Him 95% or less is taking advantage of His grace. Giving Him less than 100% simply will not do. Everything Paul did after he met Jesus on the road to Damascus was for God and not himself. From that point on, Paul was obsessed; he was controlled and captivated by Jess. Jesus was all he walked about. Every breath he took was for Christ Every job he worked was so he could preach Jesus to the world. Every journey he took and every conversation he had centered on the Savior. Everything in his life was about Jesus, not about Paul.' excerpt from Obsessed by Hayley DiMarco
