(sadly no photos were taken at camp)
i believe you mean a yearning or an aspiration. well, whatever you want to call it- i have that feeling towards camp.
there's a camp i get to go to every year in the middle of summer. it's in central florida, so it takes a little while to get there but it's definitely worth the drive! it's a bible camp, a very fun bible camp! your outside pretty much the entire day except for sleeping, meals, and chores. (yes, there are chores at camp-- but there a lot of fun to do with the cabin! (okay, some chores are cleaning the basketball courts, newcomb court, canteen, etc.))
i first started going in 2011 when i was ten years old. i didn't really like that year because there was a mean girl in my cabin. then i went last year and had a TON of fun! want me to explain the typical day at camp? well, whether you like the idea or not, i'm doing it.
you wake up at at least 7:15, you get ready and head to the flagpole at 8 o'clock. at the flagpole, first (if there was one) we do the challenge faceoff. the first year was a screamoff for my cabin and one of the boys' cabins. (it's always a girl cabin against a boy cabin) none of the other girls would go up, so i did. i won but kinda gave birth to a hoarse. (tehehe, hoarse? anyways...) last year my cabin went up against the same-age boys. we had to sing a song about the other cabin's counslers. our song was hilarious! it was mainly about one of the counsler's beard, so you know- normal. then their's was about our counsler being heartless because for movie night, one of the counslers in that cabin asked her and used a weird pickup line and my counsler said she'd say yes if he used a better pickup line. yeah.
so after the faceoff, we all say the pledge of allegiance. then our camp director let's the cabin that one the faceoff to go to breakfast in the mess hall first. then he calls cabins off to get breakfast.
after breakfast, comes choretime. and the cabin approver gives each cabin a different chore, sometimes two, but still. next comes zoo crew which is fun stuff for the campers while the counslers have a staff meeting.
then (one of my favorite parts!!!) bible study. i really superduper loved my bible class this year! it was something i could relate to! i also really liked my teachers, that was a HUGE help, too.
now- back to the mess hall! it's time for us to share what we learned in bible study. then the cabin approver (she normally has a couple helpers) tell us the scores of the chores, and our cabin's cleanness from a scale of 1-20. If you got under a ten, you normally have to redo the chore or your cabin during horizontal time. then, the best cabin clean get's to be in line for lunch first.
horizontal time is pretty much rest time. you must be lying down on your bed during horizontal time. although, my cabin normally has a talk with everyone on one of the girls' bunks (normally the top bunk, it runs out of room and is so cool because your afraid your gonna fall off!)
now it's girl's swim or free time for the boys. then we switch after a half hour. free time includes: newcomb, basketball, canteen (snack), arts and crafts, and/or ping pong.
now superstarz!
superstarz: the camp split up into six teams and they go up against each other in games. some of the games include: human hot dog, mud pit, slip and slide kickball, and/or newcomb. and there's also a nighttime superstarz game. normally amazing race/obstacles or capture the flag.
then it's mainly freetime, there are two devotionals too. where did this yearning come from? well, i think it's because i just finished a book about a girl at camp. this is my longing.
That sounds like a lot of fun! I want to a bible camp like that in Wisconsin. I went to it for three years but last summer was my last :( It was super fun though and I met girls from Goargia, Wisconsin, Iowa, Chicago and like everywhere! It was so awesome!!
