Matched- A Book Review (and some other updates)

sorry i haven't posted in a while, i wasn't allowed on the computer for a week and i went another two days because it was nice from blogging. anyway, my life's been good, planning something epic for a good friend of mine and all. so, i figured since i hadn't done one in a while i'd do a book post. so, i'll start off with 'MATCHED' a really good book! so, here's the review.

//source//

Summary: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

My Thoughts: This was an incredible book, it had me hooked on page 2. As always, this is a dystopian book and also a love triangle that gives this book a hint of awesomeness. Dystopian love triangles are a huge favorite of mine and when I asked to borrow it from my friend, I never expected me buying this and CROSSED (which I am currently reading) which is the second book in the trilogy and soon to be pre-ordering REACHED the final book in the trilogy which comes out November 13th. Like MTV.com said "Love triangle + struggle against the power that be = perfect escape" so it's definitely a must read.

Language: I don't remember any cussing in this book, if there was it was very brief. Although, I think they did say some people swore under their breath though.

Violence: Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot of violence in this book. They talked about a boy being murdered. There are cuts and scrapes from tree branches though. Also I remember the Society taking Ky away to fight in a different province, but that was it. Also an emotional arguement a couple times.

Romance/S-xuality: There was a lot of flirting and kissing in this book. Also after Cassia was Matched to Xander, she fell in love with Ky which wasn't good. Ky was teaching Cassia to write since she and the rest of the City knew how to type. There was a little bit of Romeo and Juliet behind the story, but sadly, not much.

Other: There were these forbidden poems that *SPOILER ALERT*  Cassia's Grandfather gave her the day he died, that didn't make it into the Hundred Poems that his mother picked out. Also Ky taught Cassia to write- also forbidden. But that was about it.

Info: For the age range I'd say probably 8+ and also definitely a 5/5 stars. My caption for this book would be Another Dystopian love triangle. With endless page-turning suspension and love just around the corner, makes it one of the hottest books since 'The Hunger Games'
